Friends, food and fun
We came to Forest Grove a day early, because we have to pick Liz up from diabetes camp by. 10 AM. Since we are here, I got to more formally meet a longtime Internet friend. We had run into each other in the endocrinologist's office last year after "knowing" each other online for 6 years. She has 7 kids and we have 6, but with Liz still at camp I was down to 5, but still 12 kids between the two of us. We all had so much fun!!! I hated to leave, but I know we will see them again. Before we left their home, the husband handed me a $20 bill to put into Liz's dog fund! :-) I feel so blessed tonight. Friends, food , fun and dog fund, lol. We are now up to $220!!! Yay! Can't wait to tell Liz when we pick her up from diabetes camp in the morning. :-)

First goal met!
We just received a donation in the amount of $150, which brings us to our first goal of $200. Now we can submit the application, wait for the health agreement papers to come back, and put down our deposit on Elizabeth's diabetes alert service dog puppy!!! I am so excited! I can't wait to tell her all about it when we pick her up from diabetes camp ( Gales Creek Camp ) on Friday. She is going to be thrilled beyond belief. And she better get her handwriting looking spiffy, because she's going to be sending out quite a few Thank You cards over the coming weeks.

Just A Dog -- Author Unknown
Just A Dog
(Author Unknown)
You say I'm "Just a Dog"
I have many jobs, one is protecting your life.
I would chase down any man who hurt you,
I would protect you with my life until my job is done.
I am loyal to my master for they are first in my eyes.
I will always stand beside them
for we are partners till I die.
Of all these jobs that I do,
my most important is protecting you,
protecting your life with the risk of losing mine.
So tell me when you look into my eyes is
"Just a Dog" all you see?

Elizabeth was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on December 10, 2008, about one month before her 11th birthday. Since then we have had many battles with high blood sugar levels and the more worrisome low blood sugars. We would like to add a D.A.D. (diabetic alert dog) to our family to help us keep her healthy and safe. To do that, we need to raise about $3000. That will cover the cost of the puppy and transport to our home, but will not cover all of the necessities that any puppy, let alone a Service Dog in Training will require. Our goal is to have the dog fully trained and able to have full public access as a Service Dog by the time she graduates from high school and is ready to move on to college. Thank you for your support. We will be holding fund raisers and I will be selling what I can. I also have a paypal account set up with an attached savings account for Elizabeth and her D.A.D. To donate, you can send money via paypal to nicolegrimesavon@gmail.com.
